63.680 sqm, Ongoing, 2022

The new building of approximately 63,680 m² (gross area) is intended to accommodate 1,500 work

stations and their associated supply areas, and shall provide for an efficient allocation of working space

(offices), traffic areas and technical storage rooms.

Its total surface is estimated at around 45,000 m² above ground and 18,680 m² underground. It shall

respond to future requirements with respect to low energy consumption and emissions and has been

certified as BREEAM Excellent at design stage. It shall be at the forefront of sustainable development,

provide for the best satisfaction of needs – total costs ratio and an efficient ratio of usable area to gross

area, a work environment adequate to the EIB’s vision of a new approach for future work places and work

methods.

The new building form reflects a concept that fits perfectly with the neighbouring landscape, and the

urban fabric; with two distinct and complementary elements, a horizontal volume, and a vertical tower.

The horizontal exists in harmony with the neighbouring buildings, and the vertical (tower) facilitates a

connection with the surrounding European Institutions.
